  • 年份、月份和季节: “in 2024,” “in August,” “in summer.” (I like to go to the beach in summer.) (We moved here in 2020.)
  • 世纪和更长的时期: “in the 21st century,” “in the past.” “in the 1990s.”
  • 一天中的某个部分: “in the morning,” “in the afternoon,” “in the evening.” (I like to drink coffee in the morning.)

  • 具体的某一天: “on Monday,” “on Saturday.” (We have a meeting on Tuesday.)
  • 具体日期: “on July 4th,” “on January 18th.” (My birthday is on September 24th.)
  • 带有“Day”的节日: “on Christmas Day,” “on New Year’s Eve.” 注意,如果是光说“Christmas”或者“New Year”,通常用“at”。
  • 周末: 在美式英语里,“on the weekend”很常见,而在英式英语里,更常听到“at the weekend”。

  • 具体钟点: “at 6 o’clock,” “at 8:30 AM,” “at midnight.” (Let’s meet at 8 o’clock.)
  • 用餐时间: “at lunchtime,” “at dinner time.”
  • 其他精确时刻: “at the moment,” “at sunrise,” “at the start of the meeting.”

“in China,” “in London,” “in Asia.” (I live in Beijing.)
“in the room,” “in the building,” “in the box,” “in my bag,” “in a car.” (Your keys are in the drawer.) (She’s in the kitchen.)
  • 水体: “in the river,” “in the sea.”
  • 书、报纸等印刷物: 虽然文字印在纸的表面,但我们通常说“in a book,” “in the newspaper.” (I read that story in the newspaper.)

“on the table,” “on the wall,” “on the floor,” “on the ceiling.” (The phone is on the table.) (There’s a painting on the wall.)
  • 街道、楼层: “on Main Street,” “on the fifth floor.” (We live on the third floor.)
“on the bus,” “on the train,” “on a plane.” 但注意,小型的私人交通工具,比如小轿车或出租车,我们用“in a car,” “in a taxi.”
  • 河流、边界、岛屿: “on the River Thames,” “on the border,” “on the Isle of Wight.”
  • 互联网/媒体: “on the internet,” “on TV,” “on the radio.” (I found this information on the internet.)

  • 具体地址: “at 15 Craig Street.”
  • 特定的点或位置: “at the bus stop,” “at the entrance,” “at the corner.” (I’m waiting for you at the bus stop.)
  • 某栋建筑物的通用位置或功能: 比如“at the school,” “at the library,” “at work,” “at home.”
  • 活动或事件发生地: “at a party,” “at a concert.” (We met at a party.)

比如,“She’s at the library”强调她在图书馆这个地点,可能是为了某个活动或者去那里;而“She’s in the library”则更强调她在图书馆的物理内部。

比如“in the morning”但“at night”这种,就直接当成固定搭配记下来,别去深究太多。
